Every few casts the line gets tangled in the wires . Its especially bad if theres wind.
Am I doing it wrong or is just part of fishing an a rig.
Thought going to a higher test, thicker line might help.

Just part of it sometimes.

I started trying a sidearm lob beginning next to the water with the bait off the edge of the boat and pitching it up towards the direction of the cast and letting the weight of the jig heads stay ahead of the line tie. Works pretty well for me to keep it from tangling.

Has to do with the spread of the wires as well. If they are spread out too much or unequally, they catch more air and tend to tangle/foul more often.

I have found thumbing the spool lightly keeps the lure from turning or tumbling and wrapping the line.

During the cast, just before it hits the water, pull back on the rod to take the slack out.

Stop casting...drop it to desired depth and just troll with it. lol Best way for me to stay sane.

I have my spool tension knob tightened way down. I can still chunk it a mile because it weighs 14 pounds, and that eliminates 90% of my problems.

Just need to use more brakes or more thumb to keep the jig heads spread away from the main line.

Run your line through a "coffee stirrer straw" and tie to your A-rig. This slim piece of plastic will greatly reduce tangles on your A-Rig.
Have been using this for over a year no works good. Just asked Ron at Ron Rigs to make me an A-rig which has a 6" wire in front of a-rig which may do even better.
Will let you know how this works out.

Works pretty well for me to keep it from tangling. Same for me. The one problem I have is when one of the baits get tangled up with another. Just part of fishing these baits.

Works pretty well for me to keep it from tangling. This is exactly what I do,,,,,no problem with line tangled in the wires.

Sidearm lob helps out too depending on how much room you have around you.
