Hi all,
I was just wondering how everyone secures their cables once they remove the fish-finders etc. from their boats. I have been wrapping my cables in a zip lock and tying with a string to keep them somewhat protected. I have no idea if this is even necessary but here in South Texas everything takes a beating so I'm always inclined to try and protect everything when I can.
Thanks, Scoot

I use the mounting bracket that came with the fish finder that keeps them together and just pushes on. I only fed enough cable through the hole to mount them with just a small amount of play. I have about 3 inches coming out of the hole. I just unplug and let them go. They can't fit back into the hole and the weight of the cable pulls them back in tight enough that I don't worry about them. I guess if I was worried about them, I'd attach a piece of velcro so they could be strapped down and release quickly.

If you are storing out of doors or hauling down dusty roads you are spot on. If not you probably don't need to do anything to keep them clean.

My Garmins came with rubber caps to put on the ends to protect from dust, water, etc. No flopping wires because wires plug directly into the mounts.

I just let mine hang as well. I do this on the front and console. Never had a problem.

Protect them with an old rod sock.
