Okay guys, Ive already contacted a few of my buddies on the matter. Im really thinking of putting my ride 135 on the market and upgrading. The yaks I like are The Hobie Outback 2015, Jackson Big Rig 2014, Slayer Propel 10 or 14 or wait to see what this Wilderness ATAK will be like. Things I care about are stability, room to pack stuff incase I do a camping trip, speed is kind of important but im not in any rush when Im on the lake. Also will it handle the coast because I want to go there one day soon and also shallow water use. If any one has any input feel free to just let me know. OR!!! should I do just upgrades on the ride like adding a rudder and upgrade the seat to a new model?

If you plan on doing overnight camping trips than the WS ATAK, and Slayers may not be the best options because the Slayers offer no internal access while the ATAC has a 6" round hatch under the seat and the rod hatch on the stern for access. If you're a light packer than they could work.

If you're looking for an efficient, stable hull than you're probably already paddling it; the Ride 135. Then I would say the Slayer Propel 13, Outback, and then the Propel 10 and Big Rig. Not sure how the ATAC paddles (obviously) but I've heard great things. The Propel 10 and Big Rig are also going to track the worse from the bunch.

Out of the drive options, I'd prefer the Hobie because when you get to shallow waters all you have to do is kick one leg forward and flippers will be up against the hull. With the Propel you'd have to lift it in and out throughout the day.

If you choose to upgrade I'd lean towards the Hobe Outback, especially with the new seat. But you are in a great all-around kayak already. I use my Ride 135 for over-night river trips, occasional trips to the coast, and as the "friend" kayak because it's stable and paddles well.

I just got the propel 13, and although I'm about as green as you can get, I can tell you the slayer is super stable. I stood in it after about 15 minutes with no problems. I think it's a pretty fast kayak but remember the only other yak I've been in was a pescador. Not allot of storage tho. If you ever get up around texoma holler at me and I'd be happy to let you give her a test drive.

Thanks guys!!! Its been settled!! So I was talked to my big 12 year old son that likes to fish and asked him his opinion about selling my ride! Even though I know he doesn't kayak fish, he kind of confirmed while he is my pal. According to him, he said if I have not had no problems with it and most of the time Im just sitting and fishing, I should save my money and keep the ride and do a few upgrades on it likes lights ( he thinks thats cool) and a new seat and new fish finder. Then save my money until later so that I can get the Kayak I want at a cheaper price and give him the ride!! lol.. This boy has a plan! Well, I cant take away a son wanting to kayak with his dad and its not like Im rich so I will just save up for another one. Thanks for everyones help!!

For what you are wanting to use it for it seems you already own a kayak that will do all you want to do.
This is why most kayakers have more than one kayak!

Just one more cast!
