Those Sabine white bass are fatties. Are they coming from Toledo Bend or Lake of the Pines?

I was there yesterday too. Fishing was good, will only get better in the next couple of weeks. Last week I caught mostly males, this week the females came to join them. Fashionably late as always. The fish still have a little bit of organizing to do before everything is in "full swing", but I see it only getting better each day. It's already as good as most spawns will be, and will only get better.

I use Fluorescent Red 1/4oz round jig heads, and 3" grub bodies in White or Chartreuse/Glitter, I've been playing with a green/yellow color I found too, and it also works well. Some swear by Roadrunners. They work great, but I've found the regular jig heads to work just as good and are cheaper (which matters because of donating them to the Sabine River Gods). I run 10lb line and lose less baits, as the wire hook will often straighten out before the line breaks. Keep a pair of needle-nose handy and just bend them back.

Ahh, it ain't so bad. Drive down early on Sat morning listening to outdoor shows on AM radio, then drive back talking about all the fish you caught. Gas is cheap too right now. No excuses! smile
