Fly Flingers, Although the weather Saturday is predicted to be cool and wet the lake house is high and dry. We will begin fly tying and socializing at 10am set to continue throughout the day. If the rain doesnt prohibit us there is ample opportunity to fish and have casting classes, new fly trials and gear discussions on the open shore of lake Antone. Im sure there will be plenty to show and tell about fly fishing, kayaking and places to fish. All of this for $10.00 a person/member/family (fishing included!) and is open to everyone.. just come straight to the lake house to check in for the day.. BYOB and some snacks & I will provide hotdogs and chili/cheese/nachos etc Im expecting several friends and new to the club fly fishers so be kind and helpful to one another.. bring the kids just for fun.. Directions to the lake house on the ISS Ranch https://goo.gl/maps/uZymY BVFF on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/645414668866345/ PS. Be careful where you park the car/truck it is very wet and soggy in the low places so stay on the road if at all possible. Ill try to have the parking area designated or roped off before Saturday.. All you experienced fly tyers please bring your extra gear and help teach. This is going to be fun.. Hope to see you there!

Another great video Ben!!! I just have no confidence in fishing on or near the surface in these cold water conditions. I'm glad you are a top water junkie though. At least I'll know when the top water bite actually turns on. Looks like you slowed down the presentation. There are many anglers that feel a slow presentation; even to the point of leaving it still and twitching it every so often is deadly for big bass in winter. I just don't have the patience to do that though.

I too have to fight the tendency to move the fly way too much, even after catching big bass when clearing out a tangle...

Fly Flingers, This Thursday's BVFF meeting... . We will tie, fly & lie like last month at C&J's BBQ on Texas ave in Bryan starting at 5:45 pm until 8pm-ish.. All are welcome and bring the family for some BBQ in the company of some great fly guys and gals! Bring your fly reel (with fly line on it) and I'll put a newly made furled leader on it while supplies last.. I'll have about a dozen new braid leaders and maybe twice that many in mono.. all lengths and weights.. the braid leaders are for bass and the others are generally for smaller fish..

Do you have to pay $10 to fish there? Yes it is $10 dollars a day for fishing. This is a special arrangement I have made with the ranch to help manage the fishery. These are private lakes and must be treated with respect. We are always looking for responsible sport fishermen who understand what a fishery like this is worth and will help to keep it that way. Catch and release bass fishing... You can keep the crappie if you like..

Do you have an address?
If one hour, or 1.5 hour driving distance, i may hit it up with few friends, for crappies only. i promise you that we will not leave any trash behind. All my fishing buddies are highly educated, religious people.
