They've been trying to sell homebuilding lots over there for about 30%-50% of their initial asking price from 7-8 years ago. Will probably be trying to give them away to avoid paying the property taxes soon.

We need to build some new lakes. I know we are in a drought but we have the same number of lakes that we had in 1990 and twice the population. I also think Congress instead of arguing over the Keystone pipeline needs to build a water pipeline that runs north and south and east and west, so they can shift water to places that need it. Up in parts of Oklahoma they have been getting floods they could have pumped some of that water this way. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure that would help. We only have so much water and building lakes actually increases evaporation.

Look at what you said these areas have never really gotten much rain its not that its a drought its the population boom and then the very little rainfall in these areas cant keep up.

The Abilene deal is done. They are working on the plant in Breckenridge now. Abilene finally has sucked about all of the water from Hubbard Creek and Ivie so they are going further east. Abilene is the water suckingest town for its size in Texas. They take water from 4 sources and now are hooking up to PK. Yet their supposedly main water lake Fort Phantom whole low has more water in it percentage wise than any other lake they suck dry. Of course last summer in most of town the lawns were green, the golf courses were green, they even watered the medians around town.
Retirement best job ever.

The green golfcourses are watered with reclaimed water that comes from the south water treatment plant through Lake Kirby. We've been on once every two weeks watering restrictions for a long time, unless you have a well. Abilene, Midland, San Angelo are all dry, and all pulling from Ivie and other places. It needs to rain!

The only course that is watered with reclaim is Maxwell. Last summer Abilene sucked their max allotment from Hubbard Creek while claiming they were using 50% less water than the year before. Why? Because they wanted to use all of the water they could from remote sources and save Phantom. They don't care if the other folks outside of Abilene suffer. The only reason they have worked the deal with PK is because by mid summer Hubbard will be at a level that they can't take anymore water by laws of course the other cities that rely on Hubbard and don't have backup sources will be in danger of running out of water entirely. Abilene should stop all lawn watering now period. I know they are now putting reclaim water back in phantom but they don't use it so it is just symbolic.

They are going to tunnel under the lake at Hubbard starting next month. Will be later this summer before water will flow. I haven't watered my yard in two years and Abilene isn't the only town that's getting water from Hubbard and Albany is one of those and yes we are using poop water.

Fort Phantom Hill also has a power plant on it. They can only take it so low I think.
