I used electric for a few years but only ever had 1 that lasted an entire season and they stopped making that model. I went to the Bubba blade a couple of years ago and absolutely love it. I had to buy another because when my wife got ahold of the first one, it became her everyday kitchen knife.

I can tell you that the comments are going to be split 50/50 between electric knife and Bubba Blade. I use the latter and have a work sharp knife sharpener and keep it shaving sharp. Some guy named Tommie will prolly add that you need to get an electric and a shark blade.

I use a electric for redfish and other big fish but for smaller fish I use a filet knife. The small boning knife the butchers use work real good for crappies and similar fish.

Crappie. Plain 'Ole. Rapala, 6". Stays thin, and you can trim out. Cost. 12$. Works for many Limits with me.

And do you have to sharpen them often? And while I'm at it what's a good wayto to keep the blades Sharp? I use the knife sharpener that came with my kitchen set but it doesn't get it real sharp...thanks

I've used both, considered the bubba blade, but my electric knife is just too dang quick and easy. Big sunnies, crappie, sandies catfish, stripers; quick as a wink, that fillet is off the bone and ready to fry. I keep a 400watt power inverter with my American Angler elec knife kit (19.99 4yrs ago at Academy) and clean 'em right there at the lake on my tailgate. I do, however, keep my regular fillet knife around just in case... It really depends on what your comfortable with and what you get accustomed to.

I'm a fan of the electric knife myself. The older ones made by Sunbeam or somebody like that were the best. It seems as if as I burn up one or two year of these new ones. ck

I use my Bubba blade if I have just a few fish to filet. If I have a bunch, I still pull out the American Angler electric.

We have both. When electricity is available, we use the American Angler...yes with the shark blade. It's the bomb for cleaning any kind of fish. The Bubba Blades come out when we don't have a power source handy and the best way to keep them sharp is with a Work Sharp knife sharpener. I can tell you that the comments are going to be split 50/50 between electric knife and Bubba Blade. I use the latter and have a work sharp knife sharpener and keep it shaving sharp. Some guy named Tommie will prolly add that you need to get an electric and a shark blade.

I prefer regular. The only thing I have against electric is that it's hard to feel the small bones and I end up with them in the fillet. Maybe I need more practice? Who knows? But I can work pretty fast with a sharp regular fillet knife, so if it aint broke...............
