Does anybody know if it's still accessible? Any fishing reports?

I drove by about a month ago and the new side was in pretty bad shape, but the old side looked accessible.

I launched my tracker on the old side middle of January. had to back all the way to the front tires of the truck. water temp was 42 on most of the lake. missed one fish in about 2 hrs and wimped out and went home. my old bones were sore and ethel was waiting at home. bannana2

Thanks guys. Is the old side worth driving out to just to fish it? I'm planning on fishing at least a day and a half. The other option is lake of the pines

Pines without a question would be were I would go. Even if I only had a day and a half to fish I would rather drive 4 hrs to pines than 15 minutes to jacksboro. 2cents

The jacksboro lakes are tough ones to fish, I grew up fishing the old lake and there are some good fish in there but it will irritate you to no end most days with all of the 12inch fish....I've never fished pines so I don't have an opinion of it

Ya that's what my buddy told me. He said he fished a lot of deeper structure for practice. Looks like I'll be headed to East Texas

If I was down in a fishing rut and needed to catch one for confidence, Pines all the way. If I was wanting to challenge myself more, I would wait till the water warms up and fish Jacksboro. TPWD is taking fish out of lost creek lake and putting them in a pond called Maplewood Pond up in Wichita Falls. They are doing this to help the lakes in Jacksboro produce better quality fish. as someone else here said, I can never seem to catch one there bigger than 14 inches. Pines just seems better, love Johnson creek and Hurricane creek!

I live 10 miles from squaw Creek so I'm not looking for a lake to produce a monster or a challenge. I want to see more country side. I haven't had a lot of chances to fish East Texas other than a few tournaments in the collegant level. I'll definitely take your advice on waiting till the water warms up to fish Jacksboro. Once I'm through the fire academy I will be fortunate to fish 4 days a week.
