I just joined my first BASS bass club and will be fishing Brandy Branch on Sunday. Will be going down on Friday to pre-fish a little and get a feel for the lake.

I've read on TFF that the road in and the ramp are a bit dicey but if you're really careful it goes deep into the water and works well. Have also heard that when you round the bottom of the lake to go from one side to the other that the point across from the dam comes way out and that you should run close to the dam.

Which side is the hot water side?

Anyone got some tips or a report they can share? I've heard clear and lots of grass and timber.

Thanks!!

The launch is on the hot water side. I can suggest a place to start. Coming out of the boat run from the launch, turn right, swinging pretty wide from the island which will be on your right because it's shallow on the lake side. Turn right again and you will be headed back to the east bank. You will see lots of timber. There is a pipeline which makes a pretty obvious run all the way to the east bank. Idle into that run. I don't know the condition of the grass this year, but watch your graph and you should idle into a grass bed. This is the outside edge of a grassbed which circles a big hump, the peak of the hump is just to the right of the pipeline run. Fish both sides of the pipeline all the way to the east bank. I don't know what you like to fish, but I used to catch them on a shallow crankbait or senko on the top of the hump, lip less crankbait or fluke on top of the grass. Spend some time exploring that area, lots of depth changes in a small area, lots of inside and outside edges of grass that you can follow into the timber. Let me know if you do any good there.

Just a heads up, I read yesterday on here that the plant is down right now. Brandy Branch is also called Pirky. You might find that thread and keep an eye on it.

Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

Fish were spawning but obviously that changes if they are shut down. Very clear water and grass out to 18-20ft. Can't beat a senko or wacky worm fished slow

Thank you for the information. I am assuming that when he said the plant was down, the major impact is that there isn't as much or any hot water being discharged so the water temp may go down some, especially with this cold snap.

Would it have any impact on water level?

The plant being down will not effect lake level, just water temp and current. Perky is a small horseshoe shaped lake, you can run from the discharge to the inlet fairly quick. the discharge is to the east of the ramp. Main lake is open water with several coves with stick ups, and lots of grass. Weightless Senkos have worked well for me, area mentioned above is a good place to start, also as you make the turn going toward the inlet there are a couple humps and a cove that has always seemed to produce some fish, at least for me.

I am not making any decisions until the bourbon kicks in!

Good luck and post how you do. We have a trip planned at the end of the month. Heard that the NE Federation had 3 sacks over 20lbs draggin carolina rigs on a hump. Not sure which one though. Hope you whack em!!

Is the ramp still in bad shape, last time I was there was a big hole on the front side.

That is correct BigBass. I had not heard that it was the c-rig, but it took 20+ pounds to finish in the money and 27+ won it.

It took 24.21 to win it. We had 26 anglers and only nine limits. It was a tough day thanks to the weather. Wind blew 20+ mph and the sun never showed itself.

The results are posted on the Denton County Bass club website at http://www.dentonctybassclub.com/
