I have a chance to go Rayburn tomorrow(I havnt been in 7 years). I live 40 minutes north of Houston around Conroe. What's the name of a good place to launch?

Any good general areas (creeks) to fish would be nice .....thanks!

Go to cassels boykins off 147. Great ramps and good parking. Mid lake too, so all kinds of good fishing close. The islands by the bridge, Harvey, canyons, peckerwood...veach isn't that far either if its slick. Good luck.....hope this helps.

I would agree with Cassell Boykin since you are coming from Conroe. If you want to fish the south end I would go to Powell Park it is about 25 miles farther.

Don't bother with Powell Park. Way too far and you gain nothing.

Cassels Boykin is your best bet. Great facilities and puts you at a good location on the lake. From Conroe you should be able to get there in 2 hours.

be careful going out of CB to the main lake. There are few "random" HUGE trees right out in the middle of the lake headed towards the bridge. If you go to the right back into Pophers, no issues, you can see the trees.

Do you happen to have the GPS coordinates on the stumps coming out of CB toward the bridge?

Most if not all are under the water at this level. They are scattered around the river channel to the west of the bridge with a few others scattered here and there. It really depends on which direction you plan on heading from the ramp. Clearest path would be headed southeast towards Julie and or Calhoun point.

Don't run to the north east side of the bridge from cassell boykin and you will be ok. If you stay 100 yards off of the South west bank you should be fine. Then once you get to the bridge you can turn and run the length of the bridge.

Here's my advice....

Pay your insurance premium and GAS IT!

If you listen to all of these people you're gonna be too busy looking at your compass, and you're gonna run into the dam bridge!
