Does anyone own one yet? I am about to get the 8/9 and was wondering on line choices for largemouth bass and some inshore trips?

I called Gloomis today and left a message for a fly fishing rep to call me about the rod. Imagine my surprise when I received a call from Steve Rajeff himself! Very informative phone call by the man who helped design the rod. For my uses, mainly largemouth bass with occasional redfish/ inshore, he suggested the Rio outbound short tropical in the 9wt version.

Rod is here! Super light in hand as to be expected from a 7'6" fly rod. Can't wait to get my reel to start throwing flies. I have a new Lamson Remix 3.5HD on the way with an extra spool. Loading Rio outbound short tropical 9wt on the spools. One floating one intermediate. I update with photos when everything is in.

Took advantage of the warmer weather and broke in the Short stix Rod on a local pond. Not a huge bass, but really enjoyed the rod. Truely an amazing rod! One to two false cast and it launches large flies. Love the shorter rod for tight spaces. Can't wait for spring!

i was thinking about getting this exact set up. are you planning on throwing bigger poppers with it? really like the shorter stick concept

Sorry for the late reply . I bought the rod for throwing big bass bugs, poppers, streamers, etc. Fished the rod again today from the boat. Only caught three small ones shallow. Still early as the fish were deep on jigs today and I did not have a sink tip line. That said the rod flat out performs. This rod is awesome for bass fishing. Short accurate cast around brush and under docks was almost easy. So far, everything I wanted it to be and more.
