RobMoe and I decided to go out in our kayaks yesterday. We got to the pond around 10:00 and it was a little windy. This was my first time in my Kayak that I just got over christmas. The waves scared me a few times trying to paddle through them heading to our first spot. We were able to get out of the wind and it made for some since fishing... for about 90 minutes. Around noon, the winds picked up and it didn't matter what you did, you were getting blown around. By the time we got off the water, winds were 20+ MPH and the waves were white capping. We didn't catch anything, but I sure learned a lot today. I tested my limits and now I know what I can and cannot handle. I would have preferred to build up to my limits, but oh well. Didn't catch anything but still had a great time.

This was after we got off the water. Had to go through all that to get to the ramp. Yes it sucked and yes we both got wet lol

Congrats on getting a kayak! cheers

Yeah those lakes get bad in the wind. They start sloshing and it makes some big waves going in every direction.

I grew up on the lakes but in a big boat. The smallest boat that I was ever in was a 14ft Jon boat and those aren't exactly small or unstable. I'm used to the waves and stuff, but I wasn't fully prepared for everything. I pushed through it though. I know now that I can handle 20mph winds and not dump the yak. I had to learn quick or I was taking a swim in 49 degree water. No thanks. I'll learn quick.

Looks like a great place to fish and just get out, relax, and just paddle around taking in some sun.
I've been kayaking for several years, and I've been a boater for most of my life, and I start to look for sheltered water if the wind kicks up 15+ as long as it's just an occassional gust, but if it's 15+ sustained I usually stay off the water.

Just one more cast!

Congrats on getting the yak wet. Now you might think about changing your handle on here

This is really accurate. The water near the ramp was sloshing around like crazy.

Thanks guys... I thought about changing my name but since I host the Bank Bassin events and run them, I kinda have to keep the name. I guess I could alter it a little bit but idk to what.

Maybe on the windy days you can just get some good exercise padding.

A couple of weekends ago there was an open invite (By Christian) to go catfishing. It was suppose to be a calm beautiful day, weather wise. At one point, I was paddling as hard as I could, and I looked down to see my bait bucket passing me in the waves. I was catching so much wind that the current/waves were moving my bait bucket faster than I could paddle. bang

Me and another Nucanoe guy anchored up in a cove and watched the waves go by. It wasn't a bad day...just a windy one. Now I've got another story to tell. cheers

Sounds like you were fishing in a washing machine.
