My inlaws inheritted a 1990 F-150 with about 70,000 miles. They're having some trouble with it. They took it to the Rockwall Ford dealer to have it worked on. 2 trips and $1,500 later and they're still having trouble with it.
Can anyone point me to a good mechanic for older Fords in the Rockwall area?
Thanks

Sometimes it runs like a champ. Sometimes it won't start. Sometimes it starts, runs well long enough for you to be a few miles from home, and then dies and won't restart.
My father-in-law doesn't know much about cars/trucks, so he can't really tell me what was done by the Ford dealer. Some vacuum work and some ignition work. It sounds like they may have replaced the ignition module. I can only assume that part of that $1500 includes a fuel filter.
The truck does have the dual fuel tanks, but tank selection doesn't seem to play a role.
I'm sorry I can't give you more specifics. I don't even try to really talk with them about it because the lack of details is frustrating.
Thanks for any suggestions.
