I live in Virgina ... fished here for 100 years it seems ...
My folks live in Indiana and head to their winter home in Harlingen Tx for the winter ...
I see lots of you tube videos of kayack guys fishing in/around port isabele ...
would I could I should I tame my 16ft Polar Kraft Jon Boat w/ 20 with me this time ???>
I have several other boats but am NOT towing 1 of my bigger saltwater boats all the way down there

Just be mindful of the winds. Weather permitting your 16 footer should be fine in the bay down there. The bay can get pretty choppy as it is oriented north to south and the south winds can stir up some decent waves.

roger that - thanx for the input ... I have 2 center consoles ... 18' Key Largo w/90 Mariner and a 24' Wahoo w/ a Suzuki 200 ... just don't wanna drag them w/ me -

finally got back on here after an eon it seems, I bailed on Va and move here back in the springtime April 2015 .. love the RGV but dang the best fishing seems 5 to 8 hours away ...
unless of course you like specs n reds ... 30 years plus of those in Va ... so they are not a target fish for me down here much ...

Hey racn35 if you are on Padre you could be catching all kinds of fish even during the winter. Sheephead are there in numbers. There are gray/mangrove snapper in small numbers throughout the year with more in the summer and pompano come in when the weather warms up as well. Kingfish and Spanish macks off the jetties at Port Aransas and Port Isabelle from later spring through summer. Spend time around the jetties and docks.
Take that 24" Wahoo out and chase the bait pods during the summer. Spanish mack's will wear you out and Pompano in the 3rd bar to the 2nd are a blast on light tackle.
