Lake level is almost 241 feet. 3 feet above normal. They closed the dam. Corps website shows 1 CFS being released.

Strange they would close the dam...Seems they would open it up more than before...
Especially, with more rain expected next weekend... confused

Going to need Waders to bank-fish Cedar Creek, down in Nails Creek State Park crazy
Tried to fish that area last Tuesday, but it had 6-12" of water on the main trail getting down there.
And I forgot my rubber boots hammer

I wonder if water is running over the road on 125 near Nails? I can remember being down there when it flooded earlier this year and there were a couple of guys bow fishing for carp on 125 at the WMA parking lot.

Flood control and water conservation.. release from any C.O.E. lake depends greatly on conditions downstream.. Somerville will continue to rise and most likely peak at around 6 feet over pool before they will open the gates to the maximum. With plenty of water in all the creeks any one of them will hold lots of fish all spring.. if the lake holds high long enough I know of one little creek that will have some nice blackbass and hybrids roaming around it later in the spring...

FYI-Just called the Park Ofice at NCSP...The said the parking area at Newmans Botom is flooded, and is predicted to be closed a good week or more...And they have closed the the Trailway or the 13 mile stretch all the way to Irwin Bridge(parking area there is closed also)...
Also Yegua creek at FM-141 was closed due to high water as of yesterday, and slowly receding...
But no water on CR-125 at Nails creek.

Check this post out, that's Newman's Bottom parking lot with duck hunters sitting on it Saturday morning. They post on this site and Nails Creeks facebook site on the status of the creek during the white bass run. We have lots of water on the Somerville Trailway right now, but this white bass run will get there and it will be a good one.

FF-40 it never went over the road but it got close on Friday, that was at Nails Creek on CR 125. Nails and Cedar could both be good with warm stable day's coming up next week, they both might hold some bass. The Yegua might be a week or two away, that water will have to clear up some.

J-Moe, that photo was of Lee Co road 430 (Box 4 PHL) at the East Fork of the Yegua Creek and it is still underwater. The areas on the Public Hunting Lands might be good areas to try if Irwin Bridge and Newman's are full of people. Those whites are going to run way up those creeks this year. Hunting is still going on at the PHL so at least wear an orange cap if you fish that area of the creek.

Look at the up tic today on the guage in Dime Box Texas on the Middle Yegua,it will take a few days for that to even go through the Newman Bottom area.

Thanks Bass related, I see now. The old timers talk about some magical white bass locations that appear under these conditions!!!!

Lake level is 241.67. 3.67 feet above normal. The dam is open again and releasing 993 CFS.

Anyone try fishing below the dam lately?

Thanks for the reports J-Moe! Wow, I hope the water level keep rising. I would make for good fishing later in the spring under the spillway or around the points on the lake for big hybrids. My brother have been bothering to take a trip up to the spillway with him to give a try. I would imagine that there are crappies and maybe a hybrid or two under the spillway since the gate has been opened for a little while. I guess, you wouldn't know unless you give it a try.
