FYI, bank fishermen did much better than kayakers at Newman's on Wednesday. I spoke to several that limited out fishing pools above the footbridge. Meanwhile I spent almost 4hours yaking downstream for 4 keepers and 3 undersize.

FYI, looking at the model data the last several days, it looks very favorable for another powerful low pressure system to come sometime around Super Bowl weekend bringing widespread rain. It is looking like at least 2 weeks until the creeks will become more fishable again. There may be a small window late next week that the water clears just enough before the next rain.

Fishingfool, I sure do wish we were fishing your neck of the woods. There is no better place to catch these fish than Reimers ranch. Just the beauty of this place is worth my two hour drive. The good old days.......

All the fishermen will need to be aware of hybrids and how to tell the difference both them and white bass. With all this water and the lake level there should be some hybrids up in the creeks this year. There will be keepers hybrids but also small ones. Last time it was like this I saw several fishermen get citations.

Reimers will not happen unless Lake Travis comes up 57 feet. Every since they added another pump station on this lake, it has been below full pool. It would take a heck of a rain to fill it up. But Mother Nature has a way of doing this from time to time. You never know. But this place has two huge rock walls on both sides with clean sand, big rocks and gravel that dump into deep pockets. The water is crystal clear. The sound down there caries for a long way. I could talk to you fifty yards away like you were standing next to me. From top of cliff to the cliff top on the other side is 300 -- 400 yards wide. Google Reimer's ranch, at Hamilton pool. Both are now state parks and you can visit both in one day for the same entry fee. Rock climbing, bike trails, etc. etc.

That sounds great. I've been to Reimer's and Hamilton - great places - but wasn't aware of a white bass creek in the area. Guess there isn't one (for the foreseeable future!).

J-Net, they spawn is in the river. Where the river meets the head waters of the lake is where the spawn takes place. They will run up the river several miles. They just need a good flowing current to spawn in. They do not build a bed like other fish do. They fertilize the eggs in the current. Almost the same method as used by sammon. Wish I had a video. Maybe I'll film it this year. Never thought about doing this until now. To busy catching I guess.

It sure looks like you guys are gonna get some nice stringers here in a week or so! When it warms up a little the should be on fire. Fishytx, jsinn, hl&s post pictures for the folks that don't live in that area anymore. I do alright at some spots here on the trinity, but to me there is nothing like the beauty of Somerville. Dputtz, you will probably read this also. How's the northwest treating you?

Awesome. I can hear my line singing in the wind on every quiver the fish makes while one is pulling in the current. I don't know if this place will ever be the same.

I saw them so thick one year, you could have walked across the river on top of them. Never seen anything like that before. Probably never will again. I wouldn't have believed it myself if I had not seen it. They were everywhere. Spawning like crazy.
