Chart Select is not a replacement for SD Map Cards but could be for someone that fishes only one lake. It is intended to allow anglers to download a single lake to a Blank SD Card for their needs. Going on a Fishing Vacation or have a fishing event outside of your region...no need to buy a new region just purchase the lake and download to a Blank SD Card and your ready to enjoy your vacation or event.

It will also allow anglers to get the most up to date lakes as they become available. No more waiting until the annual release to get a new addition. You can download the new lake as soon as LakeMaster completes the survey and creates the new Contour Map file. With the most active survey crew in the industry many regions are getting new lakes added all the time but anglers have had to wait until annual release to take advantage of the new data...not anymore with ChartSelect they can enjoy the new data sooner.

That is good to know. I bought a 2nd 800 series and really hated a paying for another map card since I normally only fish 2 lakes. Unfortunately, one of them is Joe Pool and I can't find it listed but maybe in the future.

I just learned that the SD Card must be Encrypted before download. Currently the ONIX and CORE models ending in "9" have the update to Encrypt a Card. BUT this does not limit the units the ChartSelect Card can be used on. So if you have a LakeMaster Compatible Unit you can use the ChartSelect Map but you will need to Encrypt the Card before downloading. Have an "8 Series" and "9 Series" unit encrypt the card on the "9 Series" and you can use in the "8 Series" or if you have a buddy with "9 Series" Encrypt the card on their unit so you can download and use on your LakeMaster Compatible unit.

Is there any talk about Humminbird coming out with a solution to download upgrades and such via a MAC? As I understand it, currently you can't do it.

ChartSelect can be done with Mac. Read the Download Instructions it's states the Minimum OS Version for Windows and Mac.
