Took advantage of this latest warm spell and hit two Hill Country creeks. The bite was very good. Caught over thirty nice Sunnies including Bluegill and Redear. The Gills were in the 8 inch range and the Redear were in the 8 to 9 inch range. Biggest fish was a Redear that was just under 10 inches. All were in good shape and full of fight. Fish were caught on worms using a bottom technique. You had to fish slow.Fish were located in about five of water. The water was cold and crystal clear. Since I have plenty of fish these were released to fight another day. Great winter fishing in the Hill Country. It just don't get any better. fish

Outstanding! If they are in 5 Feet of water there then there is hope they will be back up here soon. I went out yesterday and could not find them. I tried from shallow to deep with no results at Joe Pool.

Thanks "Smithaven" for the reply! Those creeks in the Hill Country are usually spring fed and not that deep. I got these at the end of current, five feet of water, hanging by grass beds. By what I have been seeing this past fall and today,I think we should have a very good Sunfish year starting in spring.

Nice Catch Chuck!!

That short warm spell sure has made a big difference. I actually caught bluegill on my fly rod yesterday. That was the first I've caught in well over a month. The shallower ponds have produced a few fish during this period. Everything was extremely small though. Only the smallest, most aggressive bluegill and bass were biting. It was just fun to feel the rod tip twitch again.

Thanks Jamie for the reply. cheers I did not catch any small ones. All of the fish were good size. thumb I guess it all depends on the water body. hmmm I did manage a couple of very small Bluegill on Dunlap the other day but nothing of any descent size. The creek I was fishing had some really good flow and the fish were active with this latest warm spell. coolio

Side Note: Take advantage of the warm ups. Fish become a little more active! partyon
