Ok, I asked this in the Boat & Motor section and have rec'd 53 Views and 0 replies, lol. Thought maybe you guys could offer your opinions/advice on where to take my boat for repair. I need a reputable mechanic to take a look at my 1997 Evinrude 225 and repair as needed. I'm not sure exactly what's wrong other than it lost power while running about 3,500 rpms and the NO OIL ALARM likes to go off on occasion (moreso when it's cool or cold out vs the warm months) even though the resevoir is full and it does produce blue smoke when fired up. Have read that that particular alarm sometimes means a fuel restriction too. Thought maybe it was fuel related but could be power pack, dropped cylinder or other, hence the reason I need a real mechanic to figure it out. I live in Bedford and would like to find a mechanic close if possible, but if no suggestions, I will make the drive over to Rockwall to let Rockwall Marine fix it.
Anyway, your advice would be appreciated as I would like to get this to the shop sooner than later since they might not be sobusy this time of yer as opposed to 2 months from now. Thx

I wouldn't take it anywhere but Rockwall Marine. They did work on all of my boats through the years and there are no better mechanics anywhere. It is not that bad of a drive, probably closer than a lot of lakes you would be fishing.

+1 on Rockwall marine. I have evinrude etec and they do all my work. Great work and great people. It is a little bit of a drive from Bedford but worth it.

There is a retired Evinrude Mechanic that lives in Weatherford, he works on Johnson & Evinrude engines only at his house, he worked on mine a couple of years ago, did a great job, and I think he is still working on them, just shoot me an email and I will send you his name and number.
