Hey man, I spent about 15 minutes googling to try to come up with some information that could help you only to come back here and decide not to post when I noticed you are from Keller TX! I'm also from Keller. You should go visit "Anglers" down on Rufe Snow and ask them your questions. They have a lot of very nice kayaks there, including large hybrids, and are very knowledgeable.

Also, they are the type of folks that will do the research and search through catalogs to help you find what you need. I highly encourage you check that place out. The owners are very good people and have helped me tremendously in my fishing.

Ocean kayak big game II has a weight capacity of 550-600 lbs. Might be something to look at.

Talk to Rick at Anglers Pro Tackle. I am 6'7" 350 lbs. I was in the same situation last year I made the mistake of buying a used kayak for my first yak with a 350 lb limit. Bad bad bad. I bought a Native Ultimate FX 15. I LOVE IT!!! 600 lb weight cap. It will hold me and all my gear with ease. I have never flipped it and it is comfortable as well.

Not sure if its been mentioned yet, but look into a Nucanoe Frontier 12 ... 650 pound limit.

There are lots of options these days for larger folks. I would start by making a list of the higher capacity yaks of each major mfg - Wilderness Systems, Old Towne, Native, Hobie, Ocean Kayak, Jackson (I'm prob forgetting some) and/or start visiting dealers to get their input. I think you need to target yaks with a #500 and above capacity. And once you narrow down those that appear to be good fits, demo and also ask LOTS of questions to the group here as to how that particular boat may fit your needs. One of the first steps may be whether you want to pedal or paddle. If you decide to pedal, that narrows down the field significantly. If you decide to paddle, that pretty much eliminates Hobie for high capacity yaks. Chris Payne, do you still have your "kayak selector"?

Wilderness systems, Hobie, Nucanoe, Native and several others make kayaks you can use. Come out to the Hunting and Tackle Show this weekend and Mariner Sails will have plenty to look at with some great show pricing.

Other options, if you don't care about speed/maneuverability/tracking--purchase a tandem kayak, but use it as a one seater.

Lots of options--I purchased this one for $299 when Sports Authority was closing them out. It is extremely stable, but slow, catches wind, and doesn't track well--but I love it.

I'm 6'0" 280lbs and I know what your talking about lol. The most affordable one for big guys is the ride 135 and the best one is the PA 14. I'm a big guy and own both, the ride is a darn good yak as long as you get the rudder also it has multiple seating options. The PA is insanely fast and I guarantee that anyone can stand on it, plus the seat is comfortable enough for all day of sitting without any discomfort. The original airpro seats for the ride get uncomfortable after 4hrs or so although, I'm sure the new mesh seat is much better. They both offer plenty of leg room for the tall guys too.

I went and saw Rick this afternoon. I think I found my new favorite tackle shop. He was very knowledgeable and gave me literature on aa few different models to look through. Thank you for all the info. I will be heading out to the show this weekend and see what else is out there.

Thank you all again for the responses and information.
