I noticed APT now has the bull shad swimbaits for sale, has anyone used these swimbaits? Are they really worth the money?
Any other swimbaits that are better or more cost effective and still work as well
fish to live and live to fish

They look like a 3rd grader painted them. That being said they really of catch fish. Even spotted bass try to eat it. It works well on Lewisville & Grapevine.

If you want something with a much more refined look, a 3:16 Freestyle Shad or Freestyle Herring is the way to go.
Edit: More expensive, but you pay for what you get...

3:16 Freestyle's are only $125 through their website. Also says "please limit to two per household"! Sorry, could'nt help it. Yep, the Bull Shad is proof that detail catches fishermen and action catches fish. They look like junk...but do catch fish.

If you want a fancy painted and detailed swim bait, there are plenty out there....the Bull shads simply catch fish. I could care less how I think they look, the fish tell me what they think. Also make sure you check out the Balsa Bulls.

Spro BBZ-1 is pretty much the standard lower cost swimbait if your not willing to jump into the expensive stuff yet. I say yet because it will happen once you start using them lol.

There is the hipower shad swimbait that has an amazing paint job, they are expensive. I have caught some good fish on a river2sea s waver this week, 6 in version for $16.99. Best bang for your buck

Do fish really analyze the paint job on any bait? I know we as fisherman get caught up in these fancy painted baits, but if a crankbait, swimbait (any moving bait) goes by a fish, I doubt the bass will turn away because of paint.

I sold a high power Shad I got for $600. A guy offered that to me and I couldn't turn it down. That was 2 weeks ago and I still can't believe someone would pay that much for a lure.

The paint job and colors and all that are for the fisherman.... Bass have a brain the size of a pea. Ask Larry Nixon.
If you have confidence in a $60 bait and have the means to get it, get it.
I just can't spend that much on one lure that I could lose on my first cast at Fork.
