I did a little price comparison, as I need to buy some fishing line to respool some reels. I was rather shocked to see how much of a variable there is between say Bass Pro and Academy. Examples:
20# - $19.99 at Academy
20# - $31.99 at Bass Pro
15# - $18.99 at Academy
15# - $28.99 at Bass Pro
That's a delta of $12.00 per 200 yd spool for the 20# and $10.00 delta on the 15#.
I like Bass Pro, and they have everything for the fisherman, but man I would be silly to pay that much more for the exact same product. I know pricing varies on almost any product, but WOW!! That's a lot!!!

I would rather wander around in Bass Pro for a couple hours sight-seeing but actually shop at Academy. Unfortunatly what I want won't be there!

It's like almost everything Bass Pro sells-they sell their own brand for less, and other brands for more. They make more money off their own stuff, so they try to get you to buy it over someone else's product. It's quite comical though to see the difference in the price of this line. It make me wonder if they even look at what their competitors sell it for.

Buy 1000 or 3000 yard spools on eBay. Much more economical.
Usually can buy 1000 yds of 15lb for $75-80.

Curious how you load the line from a 1000 yard reel since it's so big and heavy. What do you use to hold it and allow it to spin to spool the line onto the reel?

Girlfriend and a screwdriver. When I buy the 3000 yd spool I have a girlfriend on each side of the spool holding the screw driver.

Bass Pro Shops offer customer service; that is their response every time I bring up their pricing issues. Which do you want; save a ton of money or customer service? Thank you Tackle Warehouse!

I just switched back to 17lb Stren mono for $7.19 a spool..... Ta heck with $20 box of string. It's just a bass....
