Had two great trips to big Tex around the first of the year.

Planned a while back on taking my kids 6 and 9 on MLK day weather permitting.

Read the reports the last few days, and even though I knew it would be tough I decided it was just going to be too beautiful a day not to spend some time on the water.

Well I am just glad a took a lot of food/snacks. Cause I couldn't find fish anywhere. Hit the water at noon. Put in at Cedar Mills started by checking Walnut and Big Mineral with no luck. Then ended up west of Willis bridge well on my way to getting skunked.

Missed one good bite and then got the next one(nice 8 lber) to be the only fish of the day. Off the water at 4:30.

Toughest day I have EVER had on texoma from a fish locating standpoint.

MAN I hear ya.
We put in at Juniper west and fished around Willis bridge area. Not much going on there. We did finally find a BIG school of shad deep west of willis bridge. Looked like some decent fish mixed in but they wouldn't bite anything.

I did catch one black bass about 16 inches long. (released, in honor of MLK day I guess).

On stripers we had a couple bumps and not any takers It has been a long time since it was that slow for me.

Oh and I snagged a shad WOO HOO! smile

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

Thanks for the report. A report like this is so much more useful than one from the guides, as they seem to be able to catch fish regardless. If we can get a little warm weather in February maybe things will pick up.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Sounds like things are picking back up based on a couple of reports today.
