I'm ordering some talons and trying to figure out if I need the tilt brackets. Are they needed to fit in the garage on the 12 footers?

Probably going to need tilt brackets unless you have extra tall garage door. My boat won't go in garage with 12' talon

Mine sit about even with the top of the cowling on a 250sho when trailering so if your motor has to be lowered to fit then I bet the talons won't clear it

Mine sit 8 to 10 inches above the cowling. Most likely you will need the tilt brackets.

My 12' Talon fits into my garage. I crank the dolly all the way up and I've adjusted the Talon height as low as I can without catching water while on pad.

I just bought 10 footers. Beleive it or not they have a shorter storage height than 8 footers.... not sure how that works but its true. PM David at Shut up and Fish. He sells them cheaper than anyone. Mine sit even with the top of cowling (225 Merc).

Look at it this way, you have invested no small amount in the 12' model/or about to, spend the few dollars more and buy the fold down brackets. You will be glad, IMO, you did. I only have one and was not trying to put it in a garage but it's own carport still, trying to think ahead, I added the fold down bracket. It fit even without folding down the Talon but, I had doubts.....so, spent the few additional $$ more.

I installed the 12' Talons with the tilting brackets just to be on the safe side but mine fits under without tilting them.
It's going to totally depend on the type of boat you have. Different boats ride higher on their trailers than others.

I ordered my 12' Talon w/ universal jack plate and tilt brackets from okefenokeeoutdoors.com. The whole package only cost me around $1850.00 (no tax and free shipping). Thought I would need the tilt bracket to get under my carport, but didn't need it after all.
I'm glad I got the tilt, because I lost power to the Talon a couple of weeks ago and didn't have a big enough wrench to manually retract the anchor. Tilted the Talon, tied it down to the back deck and crept back to the ramp.

If you have 8ft. garage doors you don't need the brackets
