Got an invite to head down to Rayburn with a friend for a couple of days and I will say, WOW!
What an awesome and beautiful fishery.
I've never been on the lake and he hadn't been there in a year, but we had a decent day Friday. We figured a few things out and had around 20 fish and had a few more come off. Biggest was around 6-7 pounds. Also saw a few Bald Eagles.
Saturday the areas we looked at were crowded due to tournaments so we stayed out of everyone's way and just did more looking than fishing.
That is one huge body of water and I haven't fished grass like that in years. I think I've found where I'll retire to in a few years.
And I've been told Toledo Bend is as good or better.

Was out last Thursday and the fishing was tough. I'm headed out in the morning also, I hope the bite is better than the last time I was out!

I prefer Rayburn to retire on due to its not as congested with housing on the lake and my wife prefers Toledo because she wants a fishing pier / boat house on the lake. Rayburn is looking good for the spawn if water levels sustain.

I bought a fixer upper about 10 years ago on Rayburn in preparation for the end of this year. I am pulling the plug and moving to beautiful Broaddus Texas on the shores of Sam Rayburn. I love it up there. Was up this weekend and didn't leave until late yesterday. It gets harder and harder to leave each time we go up.

Bass don't bite at Rayburn. That was a fluke. The water level is usually 11' lower. The grass is dying. It's always way more crowded that what you saw. Don't move here. Bad choice. Continue to visit Fork - the more boats that are in Fork the higher the water level is.

It seems like you could fish for years and still find new spots. You've got OMH memorized, you'd have a ball down there.
And who doesn't love deep grass? Love that lake.
