You can handle them however you want, just search my recent posts about the 12 - 17? lb er I roll em around in the rocks and grass to soften up before I chop their pretty heads off.

If the LMF is not a "real" tail-water then what is it? I'm pretty sure that the main trout population in any tail-water didn't get there naturally, by definition. There's plenty of the same kind of factory bred trout at the Bull Shoals White River tail-water, and those other supposedly more pristine streams you mentioned, I imagine they get stocked from the same sorts of hatcheries that the LMF does on a regular basis. So, yes, you are coming off as a snob. Guys are just saying to try to be gentle with any you don't plan to take home to eat, and to follow the regulations including the ones about bait fishing in the Red Zone.
