I'm in the middle of this debate right now, so I'm very interested in the replies.

I was also told that the prop can break on the propel but the mirage tends to bend.

You have to weigh the pros and cons of each craft. They both have their advantages and drawbacks. I'm a Hobie guy, they've been good to me and REALLY stand behind their product. I don't think either one of these boats will disappoint

I'm trying to decide between the outback and the slayer 13 myself. I have made up a list of what I find as pros and cons for each boat but I'm still trying to decide what means more to me. I'm also still trying to read every review good or back for each boat. I think my head is going to explode.

Lol, everyone it is hard to compare. They are all great boats and you will not go wrong with either one. It comes down to demoing them and seeing what you like. Just remember, you will almost always want to upgrade one thing or another.... so make sure you budget for it, and have fun.

I almost bought a propel last year but I found out that the rudder control is left side only and could not be swapped to the right side. I am a lefty so that was the deal-killer as I hold my rod with the left always (I use a RH baitcast reel). I went with the PA14.

I used my friend's 14 Native to fish at Texoma last year and I loved it but end up with a Hobie Outback. There are 2 reason for me not to choose the Native. 1- with an empty kayak weights over 100lbs., to heavy for me after a long day. 2- the propel might caught the line and it's a pain to get it off if not to cut it. I know the reverse is great but still doing good with out it so I went for the Hobie outback. Really enjoy it!
