Installing a fish finder is an easy task - certainly not worth $300. Study the instructions and do it yourself. The only hard part is mounting the transducer and if you follow instructions that will work out.
Good luck. +1

Good luck. I agree. Having never done it before, I removed and installed a new one, taking my time, in about 1 1/2 hours. The fact that there were old wires and cables, made running the new ones a breeze. If anything, removing the old one sped up the installation time so don't know why there would be an hour charge except for they can.

If you are still deciding how to do this don't necessarily let them talk you out of paying to have it done. Conceptually easy but you can always run into unexpected issues. I had my HB installed last year. Boat shop said they ran into space issues running the cables to the back and had to rethink where to install the gps puck. It was worth a couple of hours labor cost to me to let them deal with the aggravation plus the comfort of knowing it was done right.

After watching 4 or 5 of the DIY's on YouTube I decided to let BPS install my new Lowrance Elite 7 HDI. One of the DIY's actually started off by admitting the one they were showing as an example was mounted incorrectly, in 2 or 3 different ways. The others did not look like a professional mount in any way. I guess it depends on your skill level. To answer your question BPS is charging me 2 hrs (at $95/hr) to mount the new one and 1 hr to move the existing one to the front of the boat. Whatever you choose to do I hope it works out OK. Good luck, BPS is one of the last places I would have touch my boat. I've seen people knocking BPS before, and frankly I had some doubts about them, too. But I bought my boat there, and was having some maintenance and warranty work done. And, since everyone was saying how easy it is to install a new fish finder I thought that I'd give them a shot at it. I just got back from checking in with them and it all looks good. Guess I hit them on a good day.

Wondering why you didn't take it to Rockwall Marine?

Picked the boat up on Sat - put my truck in the shop on Sat. The installation looks good, I just need to get it on the water and learn how to use it.
