When I see vapor trails that stretch across the sky I get ready for a tough day of fishing. Doesn't matter if its fresh or salt water.

I don't listen to the radio on the way to the lake, because if Rush comes on, it is guaranteed that I won't even have a nibble all day.

I have a lucky captains hat that I wear.

Also, I never have much luck if I don't have whiskey, wine or beer on board.

Fun Game:

- First Fish Caught in group - drink a beer
- Largest Fish Caught - drink a beer (this is each time a "biggest" fish is caught. If fish 2 is bigger than fish 1 you drink a beer. Fish 3 is bigger drink another beer. You get the point.

There can be other modification depening on if you need to drive home or not... Each Species of fish = beer, Calling your catch = make someone else drink a beer (this is where you make a bet such as I bet I catch a fish in the next 3 casts or next 8 minutes if catfishing - you win bet you hand out a beer if you lose bet then you have to drink a beer).

I'm not gonna lie, that is one of the best fishing/drinking games I've heard of. Only one of my friends has a kayak so I fish alone most of the time, but I'm definitely playing that game next time he joins me.

I was out drifting on a cold, yet windless day(very odd for Lake Travis) a few weeks back, just dragging the river bed for blue cats, and wasn't having much luck. The moment I start taking a swig from my flask, the front rod bends over and I nearly spit bourbon all over my new fishfinder haha! Ended up catching a few eaters and a striper that day too.

The calling your catch part gets to be really fun when you are on the fish good... We were camping at Caddo Lake back in November and got into the Sand Bass so thick that we were making bets such as "I bet I can catch a fish on EACH of the next 5 casts!" Good stuff. Ended up catching over 100 fish between the 3 of us that day. Most were caught during about a 2 hour window too.

Hahaha I bet y'all got hammered/ran out of beer pretty quick. I've had a few days like that when it gets a little bit warmer and the channels and blues are feeding really shallow, it's always nice to catch a fish every cast and load up a stringer!
