I've been considering adding power poles or Talons to my boat. Looks like it makes it a lot easier to beach your boat with a keel protector and poles down. My question is about the length of the poles. Seems like 8' would work just fine for me but just wanted to ask the experts if the 10' or 12' was worth the extra money for fishing shallow water. Most of my fishing is 15' or deeper unless I'm beating the shoreline or fishing boatdocks. Thanks in advance

I would recommend the 12' Talon.
I ordered mine from okefenokeeoutdoors.com. Best price around for both the Talon and the brackets (Universal Jack Plate & Tilt). I paid no tax and the shipping was free. I ordered on a Monday morning and they were at my doorstep that Friday.
A buddy helped me install the Talon, so wound up costing a third of the bid I got from a local boat dealer.

I bought 2-8' Power poles last year. Installed them myself. " Kind of a biach" but made it work with a lil jerry riggin. As for the length question, I don't really have a problem with the 8 footers. Because for the most part I use them to beach or dock fishing. Typically there is less than 8 foot under a dock in North Tx. So no problem!! Fyi had a pump go out and JL Marine sent me a new one no questions asked. Great Customer service.

I've got one 8-foot Power Pole. If I had to do it all over again, I would get a 12-foot Talon. The reason has nothing to do with the Power Pole. I simply want as much holding length as possible.

The 8' PP is plenty for what you want to do. They don't make anything to fish 15' and deeper. I do agree you need a keel guard to beach against.

I've never used a Talon but the plus about the Power Pole is that if you are fishing deep and have a partner in the back you can drop the pole out of there way...

Will the 12' Talons go in a standard size garage?

On my last boat I had only one power! On this boat, I am going to put one on each side. That way no matter which way the wind blows, I stay put!

If it were me I'd go biggest talon I was willing to spend the money on, plus you can get the tilt bracket to fit in the garage. I fish bass champs so talon money if we win would be a nice bonus
