I found a few article online on this topic but I'd like to hear what you guys think.

If money and fishing super shallow water is not a major concern , would peddle kayak a hand-down choice for kayak fishing?

I love to swing a paddle. Peddles have their perks if your casting etc. I dont. I think when you start adding moving parts there will be falure.

I prefer to paddle. That said, if I was primarily targeting LMB, I would love to have a peddle drive.

I never had to urge to own a kayak until I saw the pedal drives. I wouldn't have one without it.

How does Hobie perform when you use paddle on them?

The Revolution Series and Adventures paddle as good as any kayak out there......Sports and Outbacks are a little bit of a paddle compromise but most folks think the extra stability and gunwale trays are worth it. The ProAnglers are better peddlers than paddlers but they are definitely paddle-able. Most folks seem to prefer peddling if they have the Mirage Drive as an option....

Here's my $0.02 considering I've tried both paddle and peddle kayaks.

Considering where you're going to be spending most of your time.

If you're on a big lake and you want to try many different areas, then you want a peddle kayak.

If you're fishing creeks and rivers or really shallow areas, then you want a paddle kayak.

Of course, if I had plenty money and access to creeks, rivers, and lakes; I'd have one of each.

Since I live in the panhandle and most of my fishing will be creeks or rivers in the spring time, I'm looking into a paddle kayak.

The short answer is ... NOPE. roflmao but it is easier if that's what you are looking for.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

40+ years of machine shop work have my shoulders so cratered, there's just no way I can handle a lot of paddling, and especially not paddling while trying to fish. Watching guys do that had dulled my interest in fishing from a kayak long before my shoulders got so bad.

Plus, for the last 10 years, I've averaged riding 100 miles a week on a bicycle. So pedaling is easy for me. Also, with the forward and reverse pedaling a Native Propel pedal drive does, it works great for holding yourself over crappie for vertical fishing, and crappie fishing is pretty much the only fishing I do these days.

I do lots of things differently than most kayak anglers, too. I see the photos of mass numbers of rods in kayaks. I carry just two rods. And I don't stand them up to be constantly banging into the tree branches or bridge pilings around me. When I'm not using them, they point straight forward, in the rod holders beside me.

And there's lots of other stuff I do differently than most, too. What kind of kayak you want depends a whole lot on what you'll be doing with it. My Native Ultimate with a Propel pedal drive is the cat's meow for me.

I'm thinking there must not be too many pedal kayak aficionados in this thread since not a single poster spelled "pedal" correctly. Today's dictionary excerpt:
peddle, verb = Try to sell (something, especially small goods) by going from house to house or place to place.
pedal, verb = Move by working pedals.

Just curious, but what kind of rivers and creeks are you fishing here in the panhandle?

I've owned both and I prefer paddling.
