I've hooked different baits to different shaky heads and observed the action in a kids pool with a bunch of landscape rocks and decomposed granite on the bottom. I even turn the water on slow to make a slight current. If you haven't done this, you're not as bored in the winter as me. Some baits will float their tail upward and are best dead-sticked on a stand-up style shaky head so to let the bait do the enticing. Others like a Senko will often lay the shaky head on its side and a slow drag looks like [censored], and so does a dead-stick approach- it needs to be wacky-rigged or hopped occasionally and then it looks amazing. My point, without divulging all of my results, is that you really should test these things. Different baits, heads, angles, etc all produce different results.

I'll add that my favorite is a 1/4oz Owner shaky head and a baby brush hog. This combo really likes to stay standing up even when slowly dragging it, and it shakes like crazy as you drag it along. It also moves very well with the current when dead-sticking between drags.

If I'm throwing a shakey head and a fish spits up a crawdad, I'll throw this.

Whats the difference between that and the big bite baits version?
