It was a cold day on the lake but managed to get two limits of crappie in the boat. All bit on jigs in 17' of water and was holding around 10'.

Were you under the bridge?

Yes, and with this cold weather there wasn't many people on the lake.

Really! I started to go to Murvaul yesterday but figured being a Saturday there would be a crowd. Went to Martin Creek instead and managed to put a dozen in the cooler. I bet it was cold under that little bridge, it acts like a wind tunnel. Funny how you don't mind the cold when the fish are biting. I may have to slip over there one day next week.

Got to get there early on good weather days to get a spot under the bridge. How far you live from Murvaul.

I'm only about 20 minutes from Murvaul. I got a late start Saturday, that's why I opted for Martin Lake. Your right, if it's pretty weather you have to be there at daylight but even when it's crowded everyone seems to get a long good. Jigs are more fun but Rosie Reds work good under the bridge too. That little lake has got some slabs in it not to mention the big bass. Seems like every time I fish the bridge someone will catch a 5 or 6 pound bass.

Hey Nitro I was there also and I have to say that was the most cold I have been in a while and I had fished some of those colder mornings this past week. Best time to fish is during the week if possible. Looks like you those fish I gave you helped out some.

No but I have really been considering it. I'm pretty much between the two and will probably go this week. Last few days on Murvaul I've had to catch and release a ton of small fish to get a mess of keepers. My two boys and I may have released more than 40 to get the 14 keepers we had yesterday and we only stayed less than an hour and a half.

I haven't been either since the weather turned bad but that lake has got some good crappie in it too.

So you caught 54+ crappie in an hour and a half. Sounds as if you and your boys had a real fun time to me. banana flehan

In 50 degree weather it would have been a lot of fun but at 38-40 degrees with 10mph wind it was pretty tough having to handle that many fish going back into the water! My fingers and toes were screaming!
