Monticello's going to be a good lake to fish in the spring, summer and fall now that the power plant has been closed down for good. Im sure going to miss the good fishing in the winter tho.

I saw a few on welsh this past weekend. They looked to be holding pretty tight to the beds. They all looked to be small males and passed them up.

Did not see any today on Welsh. Probably overall the poorest day I have ever had on Welsh. Very few bites and very few fish in the boat. Wind and rain most of the time and I was a bad guide. Only bites we got came out of the reeds. Still beats working.

My opinion is a combo of photo period and temperature, just as with any other lake, simply with slight differences. If the fish have learned to live in warmer water year round then I can't see why they wouldn't adapt their spawn patterns as well. What I mean by this is that instead of spawning in the 60's, I'm sure a large portion of them spawn in the 70's or even 80's. Also, I believe that many people think that power plants aren't effected by cold fronts in the spring (temperature wise) that normally would cause prespawners to pull back or delay. But to me there is still a change in pressure which effects a fish's swim blatter and consequently it's disposition to feed, mate, etc. Therefore, I believe that while they may not change their depth much they may get lock jaw just as bad as anywhere else. Last, like most of the others who have commented I believe that the photo period still plays a role just as it does with other animals.

Water temp dropping and staying stable, and the full moon. I have noticed that a lot of PP lake fish spawn deeper than fish on regular lakes. I think it has to do with fishing pressure. I think they spawn a little deeper because of the clearer water, especially when there is no grass, just my opinion.
I am not making any decisions until the bourbon kicks in!

I may be able to provide more commentary in 2 weeks. For now I just have to watch the action...
