I have devoted this winter to gaining confidence in jigs. I've been using just your standard brush jigs by booyah and strike king that u can buy at Walmart and academy. I'm pairing them with chigger craws as trailers and I've caught a few fish. I want to up my arsenal. Any tips on brands and presentation will be greatly appreciated. Thx
I dont fish for a living but i LIVE TO FISH!

Elk River Jigs. I did the same thing this fall. Took 5 poles and all five with different jigs. I got the best results off of elk river finesse jigs

I like the "mop" jigs. But haven't caught anything with them. Haha. I continually have lots of success with haft attack and Braur jigs. The "bleeding bait" color, Bama craw color, and Texas craw color. Add a different sized trailer of corresponding color to effect fall rate. Bigger trailer, more water resistance, slower fall. I simply "pop and drop" over and over. Almost always get a solid "thump"'on the fall. Wait a second then set it and HANG ON DUDE!

My go to jigs are Santone. (Just FYI I have also had a lot of luck with their "Got Five" spinnerbaits.) On the trailers, think outside the box. I use anything from flukes, brush hogs to craws and beavers. I really let the fish determine what trailer. Whether the fish are wanting a lot of action or very little.

And by "pop and drop" I am talking a swift lift of the rod (7ft) from around 9oclock to 11--1130. Hah. The drop needs to be on semi slack line. Loose enough to free fall almost straight down but tight enough to feel a pop from a bass. A REALLY good rod helps with sensitivity.

I have tried many different jigs for pitching and have narrowed it down to 3 brands. Viper XP MPack Santone
I also like the Viper DH when I throw a craw on a heavy shaky head.
Presentation: I fish a lot of timber and I shake and crawl it through the stump roots. Pitch to the biggest trees in the area you are fishing. I rip jigs out of grass and pitch jigs under docks (when docks have water under them). Very few of those left at Fork.

I love Santone for their finesse jigs but this guy is my go to for everything else. You basically customize your design. Great price, excellent quality & quick turnaround. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/
