I used a black body with green blade panther martin from academy.
gold or silver super duper was decent. u can catch and release all u want. I asked tpwd about this. many people do it. better with a lure. just catches them in lip.

emailed tpwd. here is their answer.

Is it ok to catch and release the rainbow trout?

If you are questioning the practice of returning the fish directly to the water you just caught it from- yes you can.

If you are looking for a new place near Ft. Worth to catch nice Rainbow Trout you might look @ the supremebassfishing.com web page. We have two private lakes that we stock with fifteen hundred pounds of trout each Thanksgiving. No stamp required.
Our average fish is 12 to 14 inches with several over four pounds. Nothing under 12 inches, we buy brood fish out of Mo.

Best fishing is with wolly boogers # 10 or small silver or gold spoons for spinfishermen.

Sorry, what I should have said was, in the past it was in the regs. I do not see it anywhere in the current regs.

by the way, many are catching and releasing. these fish just are not the size they used to be. if you use powerbait you need to keep them though.trout usually swallow that and they are deep hooked.cya
