Running a few times a month, how often do you need the lower unit serviced? I had one person tell me every year and one say every other year?

I would change the oil twice a year. If there is no water or metal shavings I would say no service required.

Lube changed at least once a year preferably before the first freeze in the winter. Change water pump imp. every two years.

be sure to pull the prop off to make sure it doesn't have a bunch of line around the prop shaft that will cut the seals out.
