Ask fishing friends for the names of some guides that fish the lakes you want to fish. Most people start pond fishing but sooner or later they will be on the lake.

Great advice here

Don't worry buddy, i started fishing two years ago out a of bass tracker and had no clue what i was doing, before i found this forum. Few buddies from work told me to throw a wacky worm and Carolina rig. Needless to say 5 months later after throwing basically the same two baits and watching a lot of youtube, i figured a little more out. Honestly wouldn't waste my time on a guide, (even though they can teach you more than i know in one day), ive found figuring it out on my own is way more rewarding. Best of luck

check to see if there is a club in your area and sign on. You can learn so much from fishing with different individuals
from techniques and tackle.

It will help you decide what direction you want to go.

Don't be bashful, ask questions.

Wow hammebone thank you so much! I hope I find someone around my area like you! I'm San Antonio Texas area but again thank yall again for all the advice

The two rods I have are a baitcaster that's a Ned/heavy rod with a fast taper that's 6ft 10in and a spinning reel that is medium and 7 ft

Seems like best to start with is a t rig worm and a spinner then just get some time put in at different places see why works

AJ, If you will PM your address I will send you a "care packet" of baits as well...
I will send you enought terminal tackle to get you going on some trigging and crigging. A few crank baits, square bills, rat-l-traps. I will also throw in enough soft plastics to get you going.

Like Hammerbone above...just paying it forward. One day when your time comes hopefully you will pay it forward to.

I suggest a Senko and crank baits, either lipless, square-bill, and/or medium divers.

Good-Luck..!
