Everyone, my wife just purchased a 16' 2008 Gordon Waterman in FL and I'll be driving to Venice, FL to pick it up the last days of Jan and fish my way back to Boerne. Can anyone provide me with some places along the East TX Gulf coast to put in and sight fish for some reds or anything else. Would like to use fly rod but will have a bait caster as well.
Thanks you and Happy New Years to all,
Texas Yankee

The Coastal Bend ( Rockport to Corpus Christi ) has plenty of shallow areas, easily accessible for hunting down some redfish this time of year.
.... have a safe trip.

don't know how much time you've got to spend, but if you can you should fish around the Fla. coastal bend(Appalacacola/Pt. St. Joe)on your way home. when you get to Tx. try East Matagorda. JMO.

Thank you both and OH YES, I have a little time. I'm in Afghanistan and will arrive home mid Jan and head to FL late Jan to pick up the skiff. Going to fish my way back and have linked with folks in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. I've offered to take people fishing along the coast the entire ride back to TX. For sure hitting two days near Hopedale, LA. May hit Lake Charles and not sure if I'll head to Rockport or not. Depends on how the wife feels about me fishing without her whille on R&R. This looks like a nice site and thanks for the response.

If you want to land a day or two in Seadrift/port O'connor I'd be honored to show you some world class sight fishing.

I just returned from Venice and the nite snookin is fantastic. All around the Venice inlet and bridges crossing the ICW with lites holds big #'s. If you wanna catch fish on the fly this it. Small white streamers matching the white bait and glass minnows will get many hook-ups from 24"-40". 20-25 fish nites are common with the occasional trout and pompano thrown in. I'll give you details if your interested. Tightlinz
