Went four times in the last two weeks. Getting tough for us bass guys. First trip was a cold and miserable zero. So I cheated and caught most of these at a pp lake (gotta love bed fishing in December!) but there are a few from this afternoon at south lake... Those are the tiny pale ones... Those fish were cold as popsicles! Honestly I think patterning them was more of an accomplishment than the decent ones from Brandy Branch LOL. That's almost too easy... These people who live close to hot water lakes got it made! Check out the spawn battle scars on the second one...

No bigguns but it's getting to the toughest time of year and I'm thankful for any bites I'm getting in this low 40s water... Gotta really slow down sometimes... Senkos and lizards accounted for most...

Nice. Did you have your FF at southlake - if so, what was the water temp?

No I didn't... I started the day thinking about fishing an entirely different area that requires portaging so I took the tarpon and it doesn't have a graph. Water temps may have been higher than my low 40s estimate but I'd doubt they were much higher. Those fish were cold. They were grouped up away from the wind where sunlight was on flatter water... It was clearly a few degrees warmer in those areas. Usually it's the other way around but winter is different I guess...

I was basically just deadstickiing them and letting the wind give them action at the deepest edges of the pad stems.

Good job Tom! How are you doing in the fat sack competition? Kind of curious how all that is shaking up. Have the Austin guys run away with it yet?

Matt I'm not in it this year... I just checked that site and that guy who fishes ladybird at night has 346 inches... That's a 23 inch average for fifteen fish! flehan bang Those guys are great anglers but trying to match them fish for fish with the differences in fisheries that we have particularly at this time of year is just crazy. Lake-wise and condition-wise it's an apples and oranges deal... My hat is off to them though...

Hey man, at least you caught some. It ain't easy these days. And I have to agree with you. The fishing is quite a bit better in central Texas this time of year. That's why I can't wait to head that way again
