What area did you fish? How deep was the water?

Always worth the trip when they are biting, no matter what the weather is like. Thinking about hitting the Vine Saturday morning. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...hoto#Post983454

Been some great catfishing on Grapevine lately, including a PB of 51, a 45, a few 30s, and countless in the 20s and teens. I'm on a boat, so I can't help out the bank fisherman too much.

However - when it's been above 45 degrees or so, I've found the big ones in 4-8 foot of water at the northwest end of the lake. Since it got colder over the past few days, they moved and were in 35-40ft.

Was drifting on all my recent trips, including in the shallow area.

I would imagine the bank off of the rocks near Silver Lake Marina would do good this time of year, as with the water being down there is a significant drop off to 30+ft within shore casting distance. On anything warmer than 40 degrees or so, I'd be tempted to hit the shallows.

There's also some good water towards the NW end of Rockledge Park just west of the point that is now about 2'
above water. The Creek channel swings close to the protected area and it's 30+ feet out there it's a good place for the fish to push shad shallow on a warn sunny day, IMO.

Posting a picture, when you post a reply look for the 5th icon from the left on the top of the reply box, that's the picture icon.

I know the lake is horribly low, what ramp are you launching from?

Last time I launched on the vine, Lakeview was the only ramp functional

Started out with nothing and still have most of it left.

Any tips on where to find shad from the bank?

All boat ramps are closed. He has a slip in one of the marinas.

Twin Coves Flowermound park is open and useable. $5.00 to get in, pay with Plastic or buy a annual pass at the Parks office, $50 non resident.
