Has anybody here tried jet ski fishing? If so, I would like to hear about how you liked it. One of my concerns is being comfortable. It seems like you would constantly be twisting one way or the other and it would wear on the lower back.

The pictures I see on the internet are of people fishing offshore. The videos show how cool it is getting there, but I haven't found any videos of people actually fishing.

Have you fished inshore with lures, where you cast in different directions?

I went to the Yamaha dealer yesterday to look at Waverunners. The rep said that he wouldn't take a Waverunner in less than three or four feet of water. That was a bit of a surprise. I thought they were capable of going more shallow than that. I realize they suck water, mud, sand, shell in through the bottom, but I figured with a little bit of throttle control they would be capable of going pretty skinny. I don't know if what he said was realistic, or if he said that to provide for a large margin for error so customers wouldn't damage their Waverunners and then blame the dealer.

I used to see a guy all the time running the north end of Conroe on a big SeaDoo rigged for fishing. Never actually saw him fish though.

Good video. I think I have seen this one before. It is a great offshore video. Still haven't seen an inshore video. The part where she is fishing while straddling the seat looks like it would put a strain on the back since she is in a constant twisting position.

It would probably be good for running channels to get to places to wade fish or to anchor and fish the edges of channels. You could drift fish some of the deeper flats without a problem. I think you can run pretty skinny but your going to want 3ft+ to get up without sucking stuff in.

I am coming to that same conclusion. It would be great for nearshore fishing and for the deeper parts of the inshore bays. Could probably run channels like you said and anchor up and wade. Wouldn't drift shallow flats and cast.

A jet ski wouldn't be able to go into the skinny water that a flats skiff could go, but is it safe to say that a jet ski could go anywhere a bay boat could go?

I've seen a few running around, they are ok for stabbing off and using as wade fishing transportation. They'll run pretty shallow, but they sit fairly deep in the water, that's going to be your limiting factor.

And a big mat of floating grass will stop it in it's tracks. Life of a squirt bike.

Have you seen the jet kayaks?

We fish off mine in freshwater. It's a 3 seater with a large back deck that I can stand on to cast. It's usually easier to troll or to sit backwards while drifting.

Which jet kayak do you have?

Do you have any pics of yourself casting off of the back of your ski, or of your setup? I would like to see what that looks like.

If you want to switch rides to a jet kayak, then there must be things about the ski you are unhappy with. What would those things be?
