I just got a new graph and I want to mount the long sideview transducer on the bottom of the jackplate. I am worried that I will get too much prop interference though. What has been everyone's experience with the jackplate location of the transducer?

If you have an outboard, the prop cannot affect a jackplate or transom mounted transducer unless you are in reverse.

You will see a very narrow line of prop wash, but its negligible.

No you will not, you will see echos from the disturbed water coming off the hull which is foward of the transducer.
The prop will be about a foot aft of the transducer, no way the transducer can "see" water that is aft of the prop.

And if you use a jack plate mount, you will only see SI at idle speed.

Since I've never had sideview before, do I need it at more than idle speed?

For me it is only good at idle speeds as I am looking for cover and marking it with wpts for future fishing.

Most people connect them to their jack plates. There are plenty of pictures on the internet of these installations and there are sure to be some for your boat.
