I have a new graph that I want to install, I am am thinking about placing the sideview transducer on the bottom of my jackplate. Has any else ever done this and if so are you happy with the results?

I would post this in the General Equipment Discussion section--

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

I've seen it done but whether it will work or not is going to vary greatly from boat to boat.

Depends on the transom, jack plate, where it sits in the water and many other variables.

Every boat is different without seeing it it's impossible to say if it's a good idea or not.

The biggest issue I've seen with people mounting them on jack plates is not having them far enough down in the water or too far down in the water. Where the transducer sits in the water, the side view obstructions and the transducer angle is everything.

Personally I would not mount the transducer to you side imaging on ur jackplate. Sits too shallow and on rougher days you get lots of shadowing from the hull. Mount it low and center, thumb

Jack plate is convenient and keeps holes out of ur boat but doesn't yield best picture.
