Seeing the other post on here about brush piles reminded me to post on here. I've looked all over craigslist for a whole now, but everything on there that runs seems to be a little too nock to tear apart and use for a brush pile boat. I'd love to just find one to rent for a weekend around the Rayburn area.
Option #2 is to go ahead and pull the trigger and buy one and set it up like I want it for putting out the piles. Would anyone real close to Rayburn be interested in working something out to keep it at their house during the year? I'm flexible as far as the arrangement - you have free use of it for storing it or maybe we team up on piles and share all piles between us.

Isn't that what side imaging is for? If old men in a pontoon boat or a blue tracker v bottom trackers pull up on ya, watch out! We have a couple spots we have been putting out brush piles for about 15 years, the same 2 old men will come and harass you and tell you that you are fishing their brushpiles! We have had a lot of fun with the guy in the pontoon boat a couple times, he does not give up easy

Here's an easy DIY PVC pontoon boat you could tow slowly around to drop brush piles. I'd consider adding a couple of rudders to make it more stable in the corners.

I just bought one for a client for the same purpose. The boat was used by a company that was in the dock building/seawall building business. Lake levels are so low he was getting out of the business. It was a great work boat designed for these type of things. Needed a new motor, but the boat was heavy duty, 24 foot long and came with a 2 year old tandem axle trailer for $3200. These work boats are out there, found ours in east Texas around the Cedar Creek area.

It appears this guy still has one of these for sale. This one is even more heavy duty than the one we bought. But it needed some work. Don't expect the engine to work. The reason we did not buy this one is that it was too big and too cumbersome to move in and out of small private lakes. But, if I had one lake and a welder to patch one of the pontoons this would be a good work boat. Moreover, you will need the ability to build a center council when you add a new motor. The engine is 20+ years old and unlikely usable. Just buy a gently used 75 HP. You can probably have and outstanding working boat for under $6000. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/boa/4733940574.htmlYou will want to rent a tandem axle trailer to pick it up. We bought the only trailer he had when we bought the other one.

Not having a trailer was the primary reason I didn't consider it. It appears my standards are a little high right now. LOL. Where's that ol' neglected pontoon boat that's been sitting behind someone's house for 5 years and not been used?

That's what I'm after right there!!!! If you was a little closer to the DFW metromess I would be in for a partnership. I have been wanting one just like what you are talking about . Take everything off but the steering wheel ,build a upper deck so you could make two big piles at once. Load that .thing up at the house and slip off to the lake at night .
