Well I finally switched cuz I have lost toters. Heck my last one I forgot to take it off. There is only so much stress a toter can take off the transom. Any device that stop motor movement is ur best defense. Now do I wanna pay 100 for that device, or 25? Motor stiks and clips do just fine.

Motor Sticks and Panther clips for now and they are easy and less expensive. When those wear out Ill try something new.

MotorMate is by far the best "Transom Saver" I have used. I was reluctant in the beginning being that it didnt make sense to me that this device would work better than the old style. After installing this and driving down the road the first time it was very evident that the motor is considerably more stable. I have had this on my boat for over a year now and will not use anything else.

Motor Mate for me now. Switched from the old motor toter after towing my Nitro from Utah to Texas and on the last leg of the trip my motor toter bent and my transom cracked... didnt notice any excessively rough driving or big bumps. Also, cant prove that the motor toter didnt do its job and protect the transom which is what caused it to bend, then the transom cracked when the toter was no longer supporting the moter. Either way, I traded the Nitro in for a Skeeter and decided to go with the Motor Mate this time around.

Motormate!!!! Always confused by people thinking any "transom saver" stops shock from the trailer from being transferred to the transom. If your boat if firmly planted to the trailer then shock is transferred to the boat regardless of the style you use. Motormate holds the motor rock solid. no movement, takes the force off the trim and snaps on and off in a few seconds. For my Merc 250XS it snaps right into existing holes so there is nothing to install, just snap it into place. I bought online straight from Motormate and a couple years ago I did have an issue with one of the nylon "cups" on the mount. Called Motormate and they said that is rare and not been a problem. They shipped another and only asked that I return mine in the box the new one came in. Got it in two days. Customer service! Also, these style not only hold the motor more firmly than the old "stick types" they also do not scar up your lower unit.

As far as the old stick type motor toters transferring road "noise" I believe it to be 100% true. The old motor toter rested directly onto the trailer which has a constant vibration to it when rolling down the road 60-70mph. At least with the motor-mate that vibration is absorbed a little as it goes through the entire boat before it reaches the motor.

Here's the deal...do any or all toters cause damage to a motor? We will really never know. My boat gets 25k highway miles a year on it so I'm certain it's gonna have more wear than a guy that lives within 20 miles of the lake. My highways may be rougher than a guy that trailers 40k miles a year. Like Mark said, next time it's pretty choppy out there and you're running 35-45mph, turn around and look at the beating your transom is taking. It's a wonder one of us doesn't lose a motor every weekend because the transom broke off!

MotorMate.. It's been a amazing investment and it's already paid for itself with this time I've saved at the ramp.

I have been using everything except the old transom savers, they are all good, the old ones were junk, I broke several of them, never ever have I had a transom problem, I have had at least 15 boats over the years, if the truth were known you would not need any of them , trim it up and go, the motor and transom would be fine.
