Will the trout be active in 34 degrees Fahrenheit air temperature?

Yes. Some of my best trout fishing days have been spent breaking the ice off the eyes of my rod. Trout don't care if it's cold out.

Agree Todd. It's the water temperature. I fished in 14 degree weather at Beavers Bend several years ago and we slayed em. The water temp was much warmer than the air temp. HOWEVER, last winter during that sustained extreme cold period (for Texas), the trout at several ponds were lethargic. At Frisco, the trout stayed on the outer edges of the pond and kept swimming slowly, lethargically and would not bite at all. People were snagging them, netting them, etc. My infrared thermometer indicated 39 degrees at the surface. It can get too cold even for trout but pretty rare in Texas. Several other ponds were like that as well.

Good Luck!

Only two at Bethany this round; started late may have been a good thing. Did miss several others due to missed hook sets. Video/report.

I've limited at Barge Park and Bailey Park, and twice at River Park. The River Park trout were really nice ones. Went to Cleburne, but the fish were so disoriented after the trip up from San Marcos, nobody caught any the first day. As for Greenbriar, the last time I went it was very hit and miss. Most action was on Super Dupers.

Raining still... did some scouting around via phone and received fishing updates from several areas that may be of interest to some Readers for this weekend. Hopefully, when things clear up! Today's Post.

A couple limits in dallas today, but plenty of fish caught by many. They were especially attracted to chartreuse superdupers.

I fished NW today after the stocking with corn and had absolutly no bites except a really big carp or koi that came off before he surfaced. But luckly the cool dude next to me shared the secret lure with me and gave me one and a couple hours later I had my 5! there was this guy that rolled up on his 10 speed askin if I've seen the warden bc he didn't have his fishin license yet.so I said nope not yet but he should be here soon bc I fish the stocking every year and he always shows up the day the stock and the guy was like ooo man thats scary well I'm going to fish by that bridge so I can get away when they show. I said just get a license it's cheaper then a ticket.

What a difference a day and even colder temperatures can make. 44 trout yesterday and only 6 at the same pond today once the ice melted enough to fish it. The fish were very lethargic. The sustained high barometric pressure probably played a part in the difficulty with sticking fish today.

Two of us limited out at Waterloo today; cold temps... even had to break ice from the rod guides at one point. Still had a fun time! Today's Video. Also, saw a number of others limiting out as well!
