I have a 2002 Yamaha 225 OX66 motor that looses electrical power every so often. When this happens it may start back in a minute or two and sometimes it my have to set for a day or two before it will fire. Where is the most likely place to start to solve this problem? I have been told it could it could be the stator, rectifier or even the computer. Any help will be appreciated.

Do you mean nothing happens when you turn the key or the starter engages and it won't start? When you turn the key do you hear the high pressure fuel pump come on? If not it could be the high pressure fuel pump is bad or the relay that runs this pump when you turn the key. Google OX66 fuel pump relay and you'll find lots of information. That relay going out or becoming intermittent is a common problem.
If you have lost all power and the starter doesn't turn you have another issue.

The motor turns over good but just will not fire. When it does fire off it runs fine.

Next time it wont start pull the cover and turn the key to the on position. You should hear the high pressure fuel pump energize in the VST. If is doesn't you aren't getting any power to the pump. You can also check to make sure you are getting power to the pump using a digital volt meter. Next thing is to check the relay. It should click when you engage the key. The relay is located on the driver side of the engine under the black plastic cover. Look on the boats.net site and you'll see the parts schematic for your engine and you can locate the relay. If it won't start tap the relay and see if that unfreezes the relay. As I said that relay is know to go out and it can be intermittent. Tapping the relay will often work to get you back to the ramp. OX66 problems are almost always fuel related. This relay is one of the few common electrical issues on this engine. It usually goes out after about 10 years of use.
If it's not the relay, it could be the pump itself, but that is a $500 part so I would start with the relay.

You are going to have to figure out if it is not firing or not getting fuel first thing.
