Got my first yak after months of waiting. Got the pescador sport from academy and can't wait for some decent weather so I can go get her slimmed up good and proper!

Congrats, why wait for descent weather? Cold weather is better fishing than warm. Enjoy

Congrats. Please make sure you are comfortable with your personal limits and the limits of the boat before venturing too far in this cold weather and water. Please take an experienced buddy with you and be prepared for the worst. You picked a good solid boat - welcome to the addiction!

Yea I don't know anyone else with a yak so my first few trips will be close to shore if the wind would just die down.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

My wife got me a new yak for Christmas. It will be here in about 2 weeks. I'll be joining some other TFF's soon enough. Congrats on the new Yak.

Welcome to the club.

This reminds me, we should have a kayak safety thread stuck to the top of the kayak section. This way we can easily link to a comprehensive set of information for the new folks.

MODS, you listening?

Congrats on the new kayaks. Winter fishing is a blast but be safe and hook up with some of the guys on here. Almost everyone here would be happy for you to tag along. I normally fish Cooper and you are welcome to join anytime. Wind is the biggest concern so keep an eye on it.

Congrats and welcome to your new addiction. Redsoxnation got me hooked on the kayak fishing about a year ago with a trip down the Brazos. There are a bunch of small lakes in your area to get you started on. Check back in periodically on here. Tons of good people always willing to help out.
