So these come in 1&3/4" and 2&3/8".

I know this was asked in 2012, but they have added some new colors since then and I was going to try some "new to me" brands/colors for the new year.

What size have you caught the most crappie on through the year. I will say I'm partial to big jigs, so the 2&3/8" appeals to me!

What are your 5 "Best" colors?

There is also a 1 1/4" (I call it the Mini Bandit) and it is OUTSTANDING for Shootin docks!
+1 on the Texas Toast & Also Sour Grape & Pearl Truse.

As I stated

Texas Toast was the 1st Slab Bandit I got my hands on back in November, 2010 & I caught my PB with it that month.

the biggest crappie I ever caught was on a slab bandit as well. I think the reason they are so effective is they are shaped like a fat, healthy juicy pregnant minnow.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

For all water types, the meller yeller on a orange head is my go to slab bandit. Other really good ones are:
pearl truse
jokers wild
texas toast
black shad

I agree, these definitely seem to be big fish baits. All my biggest girls have come on these baits. Any of the colors can produce at any given time, but on my local lake, jokers wild and sour grape are my go-to's.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Keep them coming. I have used crappie ringers from Bass Pro Shops & Midsouth 2" tubes for years. They don't look like much but I've caught allot of crappie on them.

As Ketchn says, I am fishing for whales, looking for crappie over 12"s long and one 2 pound crappie will make the whole day worth while!

I look back over the last 10 years and find it interesting how the primary colors I use today have changed so much over the years. This year it was all about the blue and white combo!

Some times color doesn't matter, if they are hungry they will bite anything. Usually (for me) the bigger crappie are much more color selective.

When I was fishing primarily plastics, and fished tandem jigs mostly, I ALWAYS had Texas Toast on one of the jigs. I found that no matter the other jigs color, and the other jig's color sometimes did matter, but regardless the second color, the Texas Toast always caught it's share of fish.

Post spawn when the baitfish are tiny, the smallest size mellar yeller on a 1/32 oz plain head can get them biting when nothing else seems to work.
